Excerpt from jury report: This project examined the difficulties faced by elected members when their party loses official party status. Losing official party status has a significant impact on the ability of elected members to do their job. The judges were very impressed by Ms. Chankar’s lively presentation and the clarity by which she explained the issue and the problems. Her poster provided useful information in a visually attractive and informative way. Ms. Chankar was able to take a personal observation, coming from her experience as a Ontario Legislature Intern, and turn it into an excellent research project, which should make an important contribution to public policy.
