Excerpt from jury report: This is an excellent example of scholarship in the field of gender and Canadian politics that provides original research. It answers the questions many wonder about: how do women leaders differ from men in terms of service to their parties? How and why do they leave? Their findings are perhaps not surprising but certainly hard to witness: the shorter tenure is the result of pressure from party as a result of harsher set of standards for women.
